Lost Marriage Records

“The Pickens County, GA courthouse burned in 1947. Of the few records lost in the fire was the second book of marriages. The loose original marriages recorded in that book were saved although they eventually ended up in private hands. The Robert Scott Davis Jr. and the late Marvis Dilbeck compiled the following list of those marriage records and the Marble Valley (Pickens County) Historical Society has microfilmed the original records with a grant provided by County Commissioner Bill Quinton. The microfilm is available for use by researchers at the Pickens County Library in Jasper.” By permission: Robert Scott Davis, Jr

Note: The compiled listing by Dilbeck and Davis is reproduced and posted here with the expressed permission of Robert Scott Davis, Jr. It is copyrighted in 1989…all rights reserved. It may be printed for private research use only.
