I’m looking for information on Lura Elliott ( born Oct. 4 1867 and d. Sept. 1891). She was born in Polk Co. Tn and from my records she died and was buried in Jasper Ga. On her tomb stone her maiden name was used. She was the daughter of William Thomas and Maggie Elliott. Some of my family hand written records indicate that she was married to a Samuel Rogers in 1884 –in Ducktown TN. I’ve been told that it never took place. His family in Oklahoma have indicated that he was never married before. Samueal and Lura had a son by the name of William Thomas and he lived with his grandparents Elliott after the death of his mom. He was only 5 or 6 when she died. Is there any way that I can findout more about this family? When he married Nancy Garrett (born in Bartow Co. I think she may have live in Dial at the time 1944) he married as William T. Rogers) This marriage took place in Copperhill. Since Lura was buried in Jasper I was hoping that you might be of some help.

I am interested in finding out about Thomas Henry Nelson (born circa 1819) who married Susannah Dooley (born circa 1837) after the civil war. There first son was Henry Thomas Nelson (born circa 1867) in Georgia. By 1870, they were living in TN. Susannah Dooley was, I believe, the daugther of John Dooley (born circa 1794) and his second wife, Abigail Black. They were married circa 1826 or 1827. The 1840 census shows them to be living in Habersham County GA but by the time of the 1850 census they are shown to be living in Amicalola District, Lumpkin County. There were a total of 8 children. There is a Thomas Nelson on the roster Company B, 34th Inf., from Cherokee county and a J.A. Dool on the roster of Co. E, 36th Inf, also from Cherokee county. I am uncertain if these are the same as above. I do have one reference to Nelson, GA, hence my inquiry.
